AKTINO ACHIEVES TL 9000 CERTIFICATION
Certification validates Aktino's commitment to deliver best-in-class solutions to service providers worldwide
IRVINE, Calif., September 13, 2005 - Aktino, the first company to implement MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) techniques on DMT (Discrete Multi Tone)-based copper access platforms, today announced that it has received TL 9000 certification from the Quality of Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications (QuEST) Forum.
Aktino is now among an elite group of telecommunications companies that meet the rigorous standards for TL 9000 registration, which is becoming a pre-requisite to supplying telecommunication equipment to service providers worldwide.
A superset of the International Standards Organization's ISO 9001:2000 quality standard, the TL 9000 standard was developed by the QuEST forum to provide a common set of quality management and performance requirements for industry suppliers. QuEST represents a unique partnership between service providers and suppliers aimed at implementing requirements to improve the quality of telecommunications products and services. TL9000 addresses reliability and associated costs; software development and lifecycle management; requirements for specialized functions such as installation and engineering; and requirements for facilitating communication between telecommunications customers and suppliers.
"Many large service providers throughout the world, including the Regional Bell Operating Companies, now require that all their equipment vendors be TL 9000 certified. This requirement ensures that service providers receive the highest quality products and services available," said Bruce Kimble, president and CEO of Aktino. "With our company focus on carrier grade business broadband products, this validation of our design and product delivery processes should give confidence to all our customers in our readiness to support their highest quality service offerings."
BSI performed the TL9000 audit on Aktino in July of 2005. BSI is accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) in the United States to perform TL9000 audits and to register companies when they are shown as conforming to the TL 9000 requirements.
"In a relatively short period, Aktino successfully integrated TL 9000 into their business model. There were no nonconformities in the audit, which is highly unusual for any company. Aktino proved to have a deep commitment to deliver the highest quality and most reliable products to their customers," commented Anthony Rizzo, BSI.
Aktino's MIMO on DMT copper access platforms are the industry's first cost-effective and operationally feasible business broadband solutions over copper. Available in either TDM or Ethernet configurations, Aktino's platforms enable service providers to bridge the service gap between high-bandwidth fiber-served customers and customers whose only service options are a DS1 or multiple DS1s over copper. With Aktino's platforms, service providers can now deliver ubiquitous 10-45 Mbps TDM or Ethernet services throughout the Carrier Serving Area (CSA) over existing copper loops.
About Aktino Aktino designs and delivers innovative carrier-class long reach broadband over copper solutions that enable service providers to offer revenue generating business-class broadband services over existing copper loops. A pioneer in the use of MIMO techniques on industry standard DMT-based copper access platforms, Aktino's products allow service providers to deliver ubiquitous business-class broadband services to the entire CSA footprint without further infrastructure investments. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Irvine, California, Aktino is currently shipping products to service providers throughout the world. For more information, visit www.aktino.com
