AKTINO WINS MEF 14 CERTIFICATION
FOR ITS AK4000 PRODUCT FAMILY

IRVINE, Calif., October 23, 2006 - Aktino, the industry leader in delivery of business-class broadband over the existing copper wiring infrastructure, has added another Metro Ethernet Forum certification to its AK4000 product family. It has earned MEF 14 certification from Iometrix, the MEF authorized lab, building upon the MEF 9 certification it achieved earlier this year.

Aktino announced the certification today, following successful completion of MEF 14 testing, which focuses on Carrier Ethernet traffic management capabilities. MEF 14 complements MEF 9, covering two sets of service attributes, Service Performance and Bandwidth Profiles. Together, MEF 9 and MEF 14 cover the complete set of Carrier Ethernet Service Attributes defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum.

Aktino is a member of the Metro Ethernet Forum, which operates the certification program to assure that products comply with the Forum's carrier Ethernet technical specifications. By adding MEF 14 certification, Aktino can now demonstrate to its service provider customers that it is fully compliant with the critical service requirements defined by the Forum.

As a product family, Aktino's AK4000 enables true 10 to 25 Mbps business-class Ethernet services and guarantees ubiquity of those services across a broad footprint, consisting of the entire Carrier Serving Area (CSA), or 12,000 feet over 24-gauge wire. The AK4000 family is a cost-effective, operationally feasible business broadband solution that bridges the service gap between high-bandwidth, high-margin Ethernet over fiber services and low-bandwidth DS1 or Ethernet over DS1 HDSL-based solutions.

Key to the broad footprint of the AK4000 family is Aktino's innovative technology approach. Aktino was the first company to implement MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) techniques on DMT (Discrete Multi Tone)-based copper access platforms, which reduces crosstalk among copper pairs and guarantees consistent and reliable bandwidth through the use of fewer pairs than alternative technology applications.

"Our latest MEF certification is further validation for Aktino," said Dr. Michail Tsatsanis, Chief Scientist, for Aktino. "Now service providers know that not only does the AK4000 equipment enable them to deliver Ethernet services widely and profitably, but it meets all the appropriate technical specifications."

The AK4000 family extends Metro Ethernet services to the profitable yet underserved small and medium-sized enterprise market. The equipment can transport symmetrical 10 Mbps Ethernet service on four copper pairs or symmetrical 25 Mbps Ethernet service on eight pairs - even with a binder full of disturbers - throughout the CSA. The platform is environmentally hardened for any deployment scenario, and can be line powered on the same pairs that transport the Ethernet traffic.

About Aktino
Aktino designs and delivers innovative carrier-class long reach broadband over copper solutions that enable service providers to offer a broad footprint of revenue-generating business-class broadband services over existing copper loops. Aktino is a pioneer in the use of industry standard DMT (Discrete Multi Tone) with MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) in the wireline domain. Aktino's products, including its MEF 9-certified AK4000 family, and DS3 (ATM/TDM)-based AK3000 family enable service providers to deliver more services to a larger footprint than any other copper-based broadband solution.
