Lonnie Martin
President and Chief Executive Officer, Aktino
Lonnie Martin has been a serial entrepreneur for 30+ years in the Telecom sector.  He has been President/CEO of three venture capital-backed companies in Silicon Valley and Dallas (White Rock Networks, Broadband Telesystems and Coastcom)  and he has reported to the CEO of two large multi-national companies (ADC and Ascom/Timplex).  A key part of Martin's responsibility at ADC, where he was President of ADCs Business Broadband Group, was ownership for ADC's copper loop transport business, which at the time held the #2 market share position. Most recently, Martin was Founder/CEO of White Rock Networks, a manufacturer of carrier-class metro optical transport equipment.  White Rock was sold to Turin Networks in late 2006. Martin has been a board member of several public and private companies and for several years was Chairman of Dallas' Metroplex Technology Business Council.  Martin received BS and MS degrees from Caltech and an MBA from Harvard.

Ben Itri
Co-Founder & Chief Technical Officer
Ben Itri has spent more than 20 years developing communication systems and technology. In 1988, Mr. Itri was a founding member of PairGain Technologies. As Vice President of PairGain, he managed a team that developed the first integrated HDSL solution which was launched in 1992. After a successful public offering in 1993, he served on PairGain's Board of Directors while remaining their CTO and was responsible for the technology roadmap and management of PairGain's microelectronics group. In 2000, PairGain's microelectronics group was sold to GlobeSpan Virata for which Mr. Itri established a design center in Irvine, California. Mr. Itri holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Michail Tsatsanis
Co-Founder & Chief Scientist
Michail Tsatsanis brings more than 13 years of innovation and technical leadership in the telecommunications industry to the Aktino team. Prior to founding Aktino, Dr. Tsatsanis served as the Chief Scientist and Chief Technical Officer for Voyan Technology. He has also served as an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. He is the author of more than 80 peer reviewed papers, two book chapters and several patents. He has received a number of distinctions including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and two IEEE Best Paper Awards. Dr. Tsatsanis has served the IEEE in various capacities including the position of Associate Editor for two IEEE Transactions and Chair of workshop organizing committees. Dr. Tsatsanis holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia.

Hossam Salib
Co-Founder & Sr. Vice President of Marketing
Hossam Salib brings over 20 years of experience in Product Management/Marketing and development of complex systems and silicon products. Prior to Aktino, Mr. Salib headed a product management organization at ADC where he lead a group of product managers and application engineers in developing product roadmaps and defining ATM/IP DSL acccess switches/modems to fit carriers' requirements for broadband access over DSL.  Mr. Salib worked with key carriers including AT&T, Qwest and France Telecom among others. Prior to ADC acquiring PairGain Technologies for nearly $2B, Mr. Salib was the Sr. Director of Engineering at PairGain.  As Sr. Director, he led a team of 60 engineers in developing complex networking modules for an ATM/IP DSL access switch and family of DSL modems for carriers and enterprises. Prior to PaigGain, Mr. Salib worked at Rockwell designing and lead designing electronic modules and ASICs used on satellites for image signal processing and communications, which included GPS, Navy LEAP and 900 MHz wireless chipsets. Mr. Salib holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University of New York (Brooklyn Polytechnic).

Jim Lang
Vice President of World-Wide Sales
Jim Lang brings 29+ years of telecom experience in Sales, Business Development, Marketing and Product Line Management for public and venture funded telecom equipment companies to Aktino.  Specializing in developing and building sales teams for successful, strong, young companies, Mr. Lang has a proven history of closing deals with major and secondary carriers via direct sales, strategic partnerships, OEMs and distribution channels. Before joining Aktino, Mr. Lang was with Meriton Networks, via the acquisition of Mahi Networks where he held positions as Vice President of Global Sales Development and North American Sales.  Before joining Mahi, Mr. Lang was with Transmode systems based in Stockholm, Sweden where he was North American Vice President of Sales/Business Development and played a key role in developing the European-based company's early success in North America. Prior to Transmode Systems, Mr. Lang was Vice President of World Wide Sales with Astral Point Communications where he grew the optical systems company's revenues quarter over quarter and played a key role in Alcatel's acquisition of Astral Point.  Prior to Atral Point, Mr. Lang was Vice President of North American Sales for Pirelli Optical Systems where he grew sales from approximately $10M/yr to more than $200M/yr within one year.  Mr. Lang also played a key role in the early discussions of Pirelli's telecom systems group, which was acquired by Cisco.  Mr. Lang is a graduate of Metropolitan State University where he received Bachelor of Science degrees in both Business Communications and Psychology.


Willen Lao
Sr. Vice President of Engineering
Willen Lao has spent a career developing DSL technology and building DSL-based systems. In his most recent position, Mr. Lao served as the Director of Systems Engineering and LSI at GlobeSpan Virata, a major DSL chipset manufacturer. While at GlobeSpan Virata, he led design teams in the development of the company's highly successful DSL offerings. Prior to GlobeSpan Virata, Mr. Lao spent more than 10 years at PairGain Technologies where he held increasingly responsible engineering management positions, the last of which was Director of Engineering, Access Products. Mr. Lao holds a B.S in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Philippines and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA.

Ray Nagele
Co-Founder & Director of Product Management
Ray Nagele brings more than 23 years of experience defining, developing, producing and marketing technology products. Prior to co-founding Aktino, Mr. Nagele was the Director of Product Management for ADC/PairGain Technologies T1/E1 and AVIDIA business units. Before joining PairGain, Mr. Nagele worked for Hughes Aircraft Company as a Senior System and Project Engineer on various radar R&D projects, including a five-year assignment in England. Mr. Nagele holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
