Aktino, Inc. is a private (funded in 2003) telecommunications equipment vendor based in Irvine, CA. Founded by a group of executives from PairGain Technologies, Aktino is led by a top-tier management team from companies such as PairGain, Nokia, Alcatel, ADC, Globespan Virata, among others. Aktino has developed a carrier grade product portfolio that allows telecommunications service providers to leverage the embedded copper loop infrastructure to deliver a wide range of high-speed, high-quality broadband services. 

Value Proposition
There remains a wide technology and economic chasm between ubiquitous and affordable copper based T1/DSL offerings and limited fiber-based, high-cost DS3, OCx, 10/100/Gig E service offerings in the local loop. The small to medium enterprise (SME) market worldwide has been largely neglected in the broadband revolution of the past decade. Aktino offers cost-effective, fast turnaround, low-risk solutions that bridge this chasm. Aktino's solutions allow service providers to re-use existing multiple pairs of copper (feeder and the subscriber loop) to provide significantly higher bandwidth services like fractional DS3, 45 Mbps DS3, nxT1s, and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet services. These service can be offered ubiquitously over a CSA (Carrier Serving Area) range, while co-existing with other existing services in the binder groups. This enables service providers to offer new higher revenue services quickly over a large footprint without incurring up-front construction delays and costs.
